Advent book list

Here’s the list of books we used for Advent this year.  Some of them were really fantastic and meaningful, some had beautiful illustrations, some we used as fluffy, space-fillers.  There are a few I probably won’t use next year.  So, here goes.  They aren’t in any particular order by the way.

  1. The Black Snowman by Phil Mendez
  2. The Nativity illustrated by Julie Vivas
  3. A Huron Carol illustrated by Frances Tyrrell
  4. Ituku’s Christmas Journey by Elena Pasquali
  5. The Fiddler of the Northern Lights by Natalie Kinsey-Warnock
  6. The Light of Christmas by Richard Paul Evans
  7. The Gift of the Magi  adapted from the story by O. Henry
  8. The Legend of the Poinsettia by Tomie dePaola
  9. Room for Little One by Marin Waddell
  10. The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree by Gloria Houston
  11. The Little Shepherd Girl by Juliann Henry
  12. The Nutcracker retold by Stephanie Spinner
  13. Too Many Tamales by Gary Soto
  14. Dream Snow by Eric Carle
  15. The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg
  16. Good King Wencelas illustrated by John Wallner
  17. Angela and the Baby Jesus by Frank McCourt
  18. Coming Home by Eve Bunting
  19. Three Wise Women by Mary Hoffman
  20. The Farolitos of Christmas by Rudolfo Anaya
  21. Federico and the Magi’s Gift by Beatriz Vidal
  22. The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey by Susan Wojciechowski
  23. An Angel Just Like Me by Mary Hoffman
  24. Saint Nicholas by Julie Stiegemeyer
  25. Carl’s Christmas by Alexandra Day
  26. The Legend of the Candy Cane by Lori Walburg
  27. Texas Night Before Christmas by James Rice

Our plan is to add and take out as we discover different books each year.  But this gives us a basic collection to start with.
